SIGN THE PETITION TO CONGRESS: “Don’t dismantle FEMA. Fund it fully and staff it with qualified and experienced professionals.”

Donald Trump is vowing to “phase out” FEMA by the end of the year.

But The New York Times reminds us what happens when local elected leaders philosophically disagree with investing to keep people safe: “In a part of Texas known as Flash Flood Alley, officials feared flood risk to youth camps but rejected a warning system.”

Now, a flash flood has taken the lives of over 100 people, 30 of them children.

Millions of Americans rely on FEMA after hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, floods and other weather disasters every year. Abolishing the agency would be a disaster in itself.

Only Congress can stop this reckless plan to shutter the agency. That’s why we’re launching an emergency petition at WeNeedFEMA.org.
