Sign the petition to PayPal: Stop punishing Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza
PayPal, one of the most prominent online payment platforms, is refusing to allow Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip to use their service. Denying Palestinians access is blatant discrimination, and PayPal must stop.
Contrary to UN guidelines, PayPal operates in illegal Israeli settlements, serving Israeli settlers but not the Palestinians who live beside them. The area is already in economic turmoil due to Israel's occupation, with unemployment reaching 50% in some areas. By denying them access to an essential service, PayPal is creating another barrier to economic prosperity.
Local businesses are suffering financially without access to PayPal, the world's leader in e-commerce payments processing. Many clients won't work with them if they can't take payment through PayPal, leading to lost opportunities.
According to a Palestinian digital rights group, "Without the international brand recognition and versatility of PayPal, Palestinians are still lacking the necessary access to financial markets to improve their economic situation."
PayPal must right this wrong and make its services available to all the people of Israel and Palestine.
