Sign the petition to President Biden: Permanently stop all liquid natural gas exports

The Biden administration has recently paused new Department of Energy (DOE) approvals for proposed liquefied natural gas (LNG) export projects pending further reviews on the impacts on our climate and communities. While this is a temporary step in the right direction, we need to permanently stop LNG.

LNG projects are threatening the health of local communities, endangering wildlife, and exacerbating the climate crisis.

Labeling it as "natural" gas and trying to justify and redefine everything as 'critical infrastructure' is misleading—methane's impact on global warming is profound and is the second-largest contributor to the climate crisis. The real 'critical infrastructure' is our air, the water, and the land.

Massive LNG export terminals are already flaring gas and spewing significant levels of toxic emissions near the cities of Corpus Christi and Freeport in Texas, and in the community of Hackberry and Sabine and Cameron parishes in Louisiana. One of those facilities, the Freeport LNG plant, partially exploded in 2022. This incident, which saw a massive explosion catapult a fireball into the sky, underscores the latent dangers these facilities harbor, not just to the environment but to human safety.

We need meaningful changes for people and the planet by ruling out LNG projects immediately.

Sign the petition to President Biden: Permanently stop construction on all new LNG export facilities.
