Sign to demand Congress stop the Israeli military’s genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign in Lebanon
We are witnessing the same genocidal playbook used against Palestinians in Gaza, now in Lebanon.
According to UNICEF, these latest U.S.-backed Israeli attacks on Lebanon have been wounding and killing a classroom of children every single day, as well as forcibly displacing around 19,000 children each day.
High-ranking Israeli government and military officials have announced their plans to use “the Gaza model, but in Lebanon.” They’re forcibly displacing more than 1.2 million people (20% of Lebanon’s population) and telling these displaced people that they won’t be allowed to return to their homes. They’re also openly planning to indefinitely occupy Lebanese territory.
The Israeli military has also committed additional war crimes in this latest assault, such as targeting medical facilities, ambulances, and first responders; destroying critical civilian infrastructure, including homes, apartment buildings, churches, mosques, bridges, electricity networks, and water and sanitation networks; and firing poisonous white phosphorus on residential neighborhoods.
We must act now to stop these crimes against humanity, which are only possible because of U.S. support and U.S. taxpayer dollars.
Congress has the power and duty to put an end to this U.S.-backed illegal invasion and genocidal ethnic campaign. So Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib introduced:
-
The Lebanon War Powers Resolution, co-led by Congresswoman Delia Ramirez. This resolution orders the removal of all U.S. Armed Forces’ participation in unauthorized hostilities in Lebanon, including involvement in targeting assistance and intelligence sharing for Israeli airstrikes and ground invasion. War Powers resolutions are privileged, meaning that any member of the House of Representatives can force a vote on the legislation.
-
The House Resolution Standing with the People of Lebanon Against the Illegal Invasion, War Crimes, and Ethnic Cleansing Perpetrated by the State of Israel, which calls on the United States to use its immense leverage to force an end to the Israeli military invasion, reject threats of the illegal occupation of Lebanese territory, end U.S. support and participation in this invasion, extend Temporary Protected Status for Lebanese nationals in the United States, support the right of return of all displaced Lebanese to their homes, and more.
Please add your name to support these new resolutions and demand Congress vote to stop the Israeli military’s genocidal ethnic cleansing campaign in Lebanon.
