Connected Limbs: Bringing life back to Sheffield’s nature-depleted rivers
The next stage of the Connecting Limbs project is focused on an 800-metre stretch of the River Sheaf, running from where the river is joined by the Meers Brook near Broadfield Road down past the aptly-named Sheaf View pub to Cutler’s Walk.It started with the ambition of scaling up natural flood management and nature-based solutions across a watershed catchment and is funded by the Water Restoration Fund, which reinvests water company fines back into the environment.Read the full introductory article here:

Your River Walk Pack will give you a snapshot of the 'current state of affairs on the river', including a brief history of fig trees in Sheffield's waterways, the reason why tomato plants are in such abundance this year on the banks of the Sheaf, features on sand martins and kingfishers, failing flood defences, toxic sewage outflows, and how archaic weirs act as obstacles for fish.
