Sign up to testify for emergency ICE bill!

On Thursday, Jan. 29, at 1 pm, the Maine legislature’s Judiciary Committee will hold a public hearing on an emergency bill to make sure ICE agents can’t enter private spaces in hospitals, schools, and childcare centers.

LD 2106, “An Act to Prohibit the Disclosure of Nonpublic Records Without Proper Judicial Review” (Sponsored by Rep. Ellie Sato, D-Gorham) could more quickly prohibit employees of schools, health care and childcare facilities, and libraries from voluntarily allowing immigration agents into non-public areas of those spaces. It would also prohibit the sharing of student, patient, and library records with immigration agents without proper judicial review.

We need people to testify in support of this bill – in writing, on Zoom or in person – so sign up here if you’re interested and an MPA organizer will be in touch!
