I hereby apply for membership in Local 6516 of RIFTHP/AFT, AFL-CIO. I understand that I will not pay dues or fees until a contract is democratically approved. Thereafter, I authorize my employer, Brown University, to deduct from my salary or wages an amount certified by the Union as my regular current dues and to remit such amount monthly to the Union. The voluntary authorization and assignment shall be irrevocable for a period of one year from the date of authorization, and shall automatically renew from year to year unless I revoke this authorization by sending written notice to my Union. Dues paid to Local 6516 may not be deductible for federal income tax purposes, however, under limited circumstances, dues may qualify as a business expense.

The Labor Organization of Community Coordinators (LOCC) is an organization of CCs at Brown that fights for the well-being of all CCs. Together, we are standing up and fighting for a better workplace.

LOCC is a democratic, worker organization that only exists because CCs decided to create it! When we form our union, Brown will be legally obligated to listen to our demands and negotiate a contract with us. Right now, Brown makes all of the decisions about how the CC program is run. But with LOCC, we can have a say at the bargaining table about our stipend, responsibilities, and how our ACs can treat us.

LOCC exists because CCs wanted to improve our university. Without you, we’re just a bunch of individual student mentors. But with you, we’re a Union that fights for our collective well-being. Join LOCC as a member and let's fight for what is right!
