Strike Ready for Union Grocery Workers!

UPDATE 6/15/2025: The bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with the company and has unanimously recommended a Yes vote. A strike now appears very unlikely. We will send out the results of the vote along with a copy of the agreement once the vote is held.
UPDATE 6/27/2025: The tentative contract has been ratified and there will not be a strike.
In 1989, eight thousand grocery workers struck across the Puget Sound region for eighty-one days, winning better wages and fighting off concessions. There has not been a major grocery strike in the region since then, perhaps until now. Puget Sound Allied Grocery workers represented by UFCW 3000 have voted NO on their contract offer and YES to authorize a strike.
Puget Sound Allied Grocery includes Safeway, Albertsons, QFC, and Fred Meyer. Metropolitan Market and PCC are covered by separate bargaining units -- they will not be striking at this time.

DSA chapters in Portland and Colorado have recently been active in supporting grocery strikes in their region as well. Learn more about how some Seattle-area stores are pressuring their workers to vote no on the strike.
