Student Debt Survey
One in five American households holds education debt, posing an increasingly large threat to our nation’s economic recovery. As politicians at the federal, state and local levels consider possible solutions to this growing crisis, one government agency finds itself at the center of the student loan debate: The U.S. Department of Education. As this crisis has grown worse, the Department of Education has turned a blind eye to the harmful practices used by its contracted debt collectors and refused to hold private banks accountable to students and their families, while making billions of dollars in profits themselves.
We will engage in multiple actions to keep the pressure on the Department of Education high, but we need your help. By completing this survey, you will help us build the case that the laws around student loan debt and repayment need to change.
