Support SAVR : Pledge to Secure California’s Pathway to 100% Voter Registration

On June 14, a powerful group representing over 140 grassroots organizations across California came together to rally at our state’s Capital. We demand an upgrade to our state’s current voter registration system, which leaves out 4.7 MILLION eligible but unregistered voters. We are the California Grassroots Democracy Coalition.

Join us by signing this pledge!

Every Californian deserves to fully participate in a genuine democracy. In order to do so, our systems need to center the needs of communities that have historically been excluded from participation, namely poor and working class Black, Latinx, and AAPI communities. This is why we support Secure Automatic Voter Registration (SAVR), a system that streamlines the registration process for all eligible voters and protects non-citizens by automatically verifying an individual’s eligibility to vote based on documents provided to the DMV.

Over 800 people took action and signed a letter in support of SAVR that was sent to Secretary of State Shirley Weber’s office to demand that she support this important policy. We continue to fight to empower millions of Californians. Imagine what can be achieved when 4.7 million people, a group disproportionately made up of Asian American, Black, and Latinx citizens*, exercise their right to vote. During a time when voting rights are being threatened throughout the nation, California can make the choice to do something extraordinary.

Pass SAVR for a pathway to 100% voter registration.

*The Census does not collect sufficient data regarding voter registration rates of Pacific Islanders and Indigenous Americans, which is another barrier to full civic participation.
