Take Action: Ban Rodeo Calf Roping
URGENT: Calf roping is one of the cruelest events at any rodeo, and here’s some of the horrific punishment that innocent, vulnerable baby animals endure for entertainment;
- RUNNING FOR THEIR LIVES: baby calves, as young as two months old, run for their lives as a horse and rider team barrels down on them to throw a noose around their fragile little necks, jerking them in the air with force and momentum.
- PERPETUAL PAIN AND FEAR: It’s a life of being chased, flipped, thrown to the ground, choked every day, and pushed to the brink of injury and death.
- FATAL OUTCOMES: autopsies of roping calves have concluded slow and unimaginable deaths from hemorrhages, damage to the trachea, whiplash, torn muscles, broken bones, and even concussions.
These events are so inhumane that veterinarians worldwide have come out against the exploitation and cruelty of this so-called ‘sport.’
But powerful medical associations, like the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)) and the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP), have failed to speak out and institute policies prohibiting this torturous activity.
JOIN US: Demand leading veterinary medical associations to come together and stand against this cruelty at rodeos – and demand an end to calf roping.
