Take Action: Demand Immediate Reform for Farmed Animals
State of Emergency: the heartbreaking deaths of 18,000 cows, who died in a massive explosion at the South Fork dairy farm in Texas, must not be in vain.
It’s one of the worst Big Dairy disasters of all time, and we can’t wait for one more life to be lost to disaster – man-made or natural – to demand protection for the billions of dairy cows and other farmed animals who are still at risk of the same cruel fate.
The time for change is now, but the deck is stacked against them from the get-go:
- PACK THEM IN: dairy cows are jammed into holding areas where they can barely move a muscle. Chained to metal bars, legs are tethered, and many are so weak they can barely walk, let alone flee from life-threatening hazards.
- TICKING TIME BOMB: 24/7, animals live, breathe, and are buried in their own waste, causing methane gases and toxins to build up. With the stakes this high, any mechanical or electrical shortcoming becomes a ‘ticking’ bomb just waiting to detonate.
- PROFIT OVERPROTECTION: every day, Big Dairy and Big Ag prioritize profit over animal care and protection. As devastating as this recent loss is, the incident is neither isolated nor unusual. It’s happening all the time. Just this year, one single barn fire killed 200K chickens. The scale of loss is extreme.
It’s downright INEXCUSABLE…and we won’t allow the abuse and neglect to go on or let more lives be lost.
Sign Now: Demand that USDA’s Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, step up to reform, regulate, and enforce disaster protection standards for farmed animals.
Sign this critical petition, and we will send your name along with thousands of others to Secr. Vilsack so that we can make a more significant impact on your behalf.
