Take Action for Welsh Labour in RCT
.png)
12 years of Conservative rule in Westminster has ruined the UK economy. There has never been a more important time to join the Labour Party and take action together.
If you're not yet a Labour Member, you can join for a small/reduced fee at https://join.labour.org.uk/
Let us know how you'd like to be involved, and one of our local CLP teams (in Rhondda, Cynon or Taff) will schedule a call with you to chat and find an option that works best for you.
Ways to get involved:
On Social Media - If you're active on Facebook already, we could use your help. If you're nervous about posting overtly political material don't worry, there is still an important role for you here (training provided, although a working understanding of Facebook is required)
Admin - We need help uploading the marked register on our system. The information shows who voted at the last set of elections, and will be invaluable in helping us to prepare for the next General Election. This can be done from home and training will be provided.
Leafleting my area - This is the most direct way to spread the Labour message.
Knocking doors and speaking to voters - This is much easier than it sounds. If we want to earn the right to govern, it's essential we show our faces and speak to voters. This is usually more about listening and talking. You will be provided with a script and training and will have the chance to stand next to another experience campaigner on the doorstep and see how they do it first.
Joining a community project with my Local Labour Councillor - Our Labour Councillors are embedded in their communities, and are well placed to let you know about the different community projects that exist to help people and strengthen our communities.
Start a community campaign/project - Among our Councillors, MPs, MS', and activists, we have a wealth of experience on how to start a campaign or project on a local issue that is important to people. If you have an idea, let us know, and we can point you in the direction of someone who's done something similar in the past, or can help you get something started today.
Get involved with your local elected Labour Party Branch - As a Labour Member, you are able to attend Constituency Meetings (Rhondda, Cynon Valley and Pontypridd) and local branch meetings. You are entitled to run for elected officer positions and organise with your fellow members. You should have details of your local Secretary on your membership card, but if you need additional sign posting, tick this box.
Stand for election! The next set of local elections are not until 2027, but it's never too late to have a conversation if you think you'd like to stand to represent your local area next time around.
