Just over one year ago, while at the height of the pandemic, and right as she was juggling child care for her two small children, Kelly became the youngest-ever woman to be sworn in as the president of the LAUSD.

Back then, schools were closed and online, and Zoom classrooms were the new norm; opening in-person schools seemed daunting.

We've come a long way over the last year; from safely reopening schools (twice), expanding preschool programs for thousands of LAUSD families, and successfully fighting for continued investments in our schools and classrooms, Kelly has led the way.
