Tell Congress: Investigate Elon Musk's Twitter Takeover

Elon Musk is back to wanting to acquire Twitter again for $44 billion.

It’s a big surprise. First, Musk tried to back out of the deal, then Twitter sued him, and now just as he was set to be deposed later this month, he agreed to his initial offer to acquire Twitter for $44 billion. And this all came one day after he tweeted a potential “peace” plan for the war in Ukraine after directly talking to Vladimir Putin. It was a complete 180 from Musk’s public posturing over the past months, begging the question – what changed?

There aren’t many options to hold an erratic billionaire to account and get the answers we all deserve, but Congress does have the power to investigate and must do so immediately. Through its subpoena power, Congress can require Musk to testify under oath and produce materials to answer key questions, including:

  • Is Musk communicating with foreign actors — like he has already with Vladimir Putin — who could use this acquisition to undermine American interests?

  • Are foreign actors financially supporting this acquisition?

  • Would Musk exploit Americans’ safety and/or sensitive user data to benefit foreign actors?

Elon Musk’s erratic behavior, opaque financing, and foreign interests warrant investigation by Congress. Add your name to urge Congress to investigate Elon Musk's Twitter takeover.
