Tell Congress: Pass the Accessible, Affordable Internet for All Act.

The petition to Congress reads: " Help close the digital divide, pass the Accessible, Affordable Internet for All Act."
Tell Congress: Pass the Accessible, Affordable Internet for All Act.
More than 21 million Americans, mostly Black, Brown, low-income or from rural communities, don’t have access to reliable broadband Internet.
So when the pandemic hit last March, one question was at the top of many educators’ minds:
How do we teach our students virtually if they don’t have broadband?
It’s time to bridge the digital divide. Sign the petition urging Congress to pass the Accessible, Affordable Internet for All Act.
The children of wealthy, tech-connected parents already had a leg up when it came to education. They could afford after-school programs, tutors, and computers that would facilitate better learning, but the pandemic has only made the advantage more blaring and the digital divide wider.
Children who have no access to wifi in their homes were now left in the lurch. How could they keep up with their lessons, stay on track, get help from their teachers and colleagues, or do research without internet access? They couldn’t, and for no fault of their own, they would fall further behind.
America’s most disadvantaged students shouldn’t be left behind. Sign our petition to demand Congress help close the digital divide.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) have reintroduced the bill in hopes that this Congress will take action after it failed to pass last year. If successful, the bill would improve internet access in impoverished communities by investing nearly $100 billion in expanding broadband infrastructure, helping schools, school buses, and libraries purchase wifi hotspots, and providing discounted, affordable internet service plans for the most disadvantaged Americans.
This is our best chance to help make a real difference for some of America’s least connected and give their children a fair chance at success in the digital age.
Sign the petition and tell Congress that it is time to pass the Accessible, Affordable Internet for All Act.
