Tell incoming Majority Leader John Thune: No recess appointments!
The Constitution is extremely clear:
[The president] shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States . . . . [U.S. Constitution, Article II, section 2, clause 2]
Giving any president a green light to issue recess appointments for their cabinet would give them a rubber stamp. We live in a democracy, not a dictatorship.
We cannot allow that to happen.
It’s clear that Senators from both parties are uncomfortable with the President-elect’s proposal. We need to keep up the pressure.
Tell incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune: Uphold the Senate’s constitutional duty and insist on hearings and confirmation votes for Donald Trump’s cabinet!
