Tell Them We Are Rising- Tells the largely unknown rich history of America's Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs)-which began before the end of slavery and profoundly influenced the course of the nation for over 150 years.

The film invites us to reflect on "What is the purpose of education? Who controls it? What is its relationship of education to the broader aspiration of our people?"

We will show clips of this film- followed by facilitated conversations with documentary film director and co producer of Tell Them We Are Rising- Marco Williams and Kathy Taylor, Associate Professor of Legal Studies and President, Faculty Senate at Naugatuck Valley Community College.
