Tell Twitter: Permanently ban Rep. Paul Gosar (R-AZ)

The petition to Twitter reads: “Don’t give a platform to Members of Congress to post death threats to their colleagues. Immediately and permanently ban Rep. Paul Gosar.”

On Sunday night, Representative Paul Gosar, Republican of Arizona, posted an animated video on Twitter that depicts him as an anime character who kills his fellow Member of Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). The video also depicts Gosar attacking President Biden.

Using Twitter to post death threats is a violation of Twitter’s terms of service, and an outrageous action by a sitting Member of Congress. Twitter must go further than flagging the video as hateful conduct. There is no public interest in leaving the video up, and doing so emboldens Gosar and others like him to make additional threats of violence. He must be permanently banned.
