Tell UF How RTS Changes Have Affected You!
Please let us know how the recent RTS service changes have affected your ability to get to class, work, the hospital, stores, or social events. Responses to this form will be compiled and sent to all key UF administrators with influence over RTS routes and schedules.
BACKGROUND
For many years, the University of Florida's Transportation and Parking Services office (TAPS) has contributed funds to RTS in exchange for free and unlimited bus service for students, faculty, and staff. The City estimates that 70% of bus riders use the buses for free through annual UF payments, and many Gainesville residents rely on the bus system to get to school or work.
TAPS recently announced a multi-million dollar cut to RTS, which would eliminate or reduce service for many UF and Gainesville community members and result in the loss of multiple jobs. Several routes on-campus will be cut completely. Many others haven will see reduced service.
In response to the outpouring of support for RTS from students and
community members, UF has already agreed to restore some of the proposed
cuts. Let's keep the momentum going! MAKE YOURSELF HEARD TODAY!
