Assembly Bill 1185 is making its way through Sacramento right now: the bill clarifies state law so that a County Board of Supervisors can establish a Sheriff Oversight Commission or appoint an Inspector General to review the actions of a Sheriff, among other reforms.

It is critical to our fight that AB 1185 moves forward in the state legislature -- this bill strengthens and validates our push to give the Civilian Oversight Commission here in Los Angeles more teeth and authority over the sheriff’s department.
