As trans people, trans families, and allies, we represent a diverse cross-section of Americans -- but are united in our commitment to the trans community and in particular to the most vulnerable within the trans community.
We thank you and your team for the strong support you have shown through your thorough and timely completion of the first ever Presidential Candidate Questionnaire focused on the transgender community.
Fighting for trans equality goes beyond non-discrimination measures. Politicians who stand with us must make a serious commitment to thoughtful policies that address the issues that impact our community disproportionately, particularly the most vulnerable members.
"Too often, it seems as if the 'T' in LGBT is silent," you wrote in your response to the questionnaire. "In my administration, the T will not be silent."
There is no question that the trans community is under attack -- from the bullying of our youth, to the violence faced by adults, to the rampant discrimination and a nationally coordinated attack on rights.
When presidential candidates stand with us, you take the first crucial step to effecting true change for our community. Thank you for answering our call to go on the record with your leadership.
