Thanks! Now can you leave an official comment on Governor Newsom's website for SB 942?

Please follow these steps to make an official comment to Governor Newsom urging him to sign SB 942 — the more he gets, the more likely he'll sign!

  1. Click here to go to Governor Newsom's website in another tab. (Keep this tab open for next steps.)
  2. Scroll down to where it says "What is your request or comment about?" and for Topic choose "An Active Bill". Then under "What specific bill" click "Select a bill" and type "SB 942", which should bring up the pulldown option "SB 942 - California AI Transparency Act". Then select "Leave a Comment" and click "Next".
  3. For "If applicable, what is your stance on the topic?" select the radio button to the left of "Pro". For "Message subject" type "Please sign SB 942!"
  4. In the box below add your message! Here's a draft you can copy and paste, though it helps to use your own words:
Thank you very much for signing AB 2355, AB 2655, and AB 2839 to regulate elections AI deepfakes that can deceive voters and undermine faith in our elections! Please also sign SB 942, the California AI Transparency Act, to increase transparency about the source of AI-generated content and help facilitate enforcement of AB 2355, AB 2655, and AB 2839.

We need SB 942 to require generative AI providers to include a latent disclosure that identifies the name of the provider and the generative AI system that created the content so regulators, stakeholders, and voters can tell whether election communications were created with generative AI rather than being authentic content. Without them, it will be very difficult to enforce the nation-leading bills you just signed into law. Thank you!
  5. Click "Next". Then on the next page give them your first name, last name, and email address (you might have to scroll up to see them). You don't need to give them your phone number. You might have to scroll up to see all the fields. Then click "Submit".

TELL US if you succeeded so we know how many comments he's getting! On your phone? Look below. On your computer? Look right and up.
