Demand the Jewish Federations Apologize to Lara Alqasem and Condemn Canary Mission by the End of Their General Assembly

After spending more than two weeks in detention at Ben Gurion airport, we just found out that the Supreme Court of Israel has accepted Lara Alqasem's appeal to enter Israel and enroll in a master's program at Hebrew University and that she will be allowed into the country.
Lara is a 22-year-old Palestinian-American — what has happened to her is unconscionable and the Jewish Federations are on the hook. They helped fund the shadowy website Canary Mission whose McCarthyist blacklist included Lara and was used as the main evidence to deny her entry into Israel
No one should have to appeal to the Supreme Court just to be let into Israel — let alone be held in detention for 16 days.
Sign this petition and demand The Jewish Federations of North America apologize to Lara and condemn Canary Mission by the end of their General Assembly in Tel Aviv on Oct. 24.
The theme of the General Assembly is "We Need to Talk," but we demand the Federations pay more than lip service to the damage they have done to Lara and all of those on Canary Mission whose lives have been upended by Federation dollars. It's time to apologize and condemn.

What is Canary Mission and How are the Federations Involved?
Canary Mission is a shadowy website that was founded in 2015 to intimidate students from speaking out against Israeli policies by threatening their careers and reputations. It serves as a McCarthyist blacklist and now includes profiles of more than 1,000 people including Palestinian and Muslim students as well as American Jews.
Earlier this month, The Forward reported that the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco had donated $100,000 to Canary Mission through another foundation that they control.
Another article revealed that the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles had donated $250,000 to Canary Mission through similar channels.
Lara Alqasem, who was accepted by Hebrew University and flew to Israel to enroll in their Human Rights and Transitional Justice Master's program, was detained at Ben Gurion airport because Israeli authorities deemed her a threat because of her involvement in an eight-person chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine.
The main source of evidence used against her was from Canary Mission.
Both the Federations in San Francisco and Los Angeles have since said they will no longer donate to Canary Mission, but that is not nearly enough. The entire Federation system must apologize to Lara and condemn Canary Mission.
