Trust the People Course Autumn 2025

Trust the People is a grassroots community building movement, sharing democratic tools to help people support their communities in the face of local and global crises. Our free online community organising course is back on Monday 3rd November!

It will run online for four weeks at 6pm-8.30pm GMT each Monday evening, and will take you through different aspects of community building – from connecting with people one-to-one to running community assemblies, which harness the wisdom and power of the community. We will also be running an additional workshop on Tackling Disinformation on Wednesday 12th November (7-9pm).

Here is the outline of what we will cover each week:

Monday 3rd November – 6pm-8.30pm GMT

Module 1 - Personal Processing (click on the module title to access the overview and resources)

This module is about understanding yourself, your identity and your biases, and finding the courage within. In the first workshop, we will be reflecting on ourselves. This can be hard work, but it is vital and empowering, and will ultimately prepare us to work better with others.

Monday 10th November – 6pm-8.30pm GMT

Module 2 - Engaging Communities (click on the module title to access the overview and resources)

This module is about reaching out to people in your community and building relationships rooted in trust, and understanding more about groups and belonging. It gives you tips and ideas on how to do connect with others, even if they have different views to you.

Monday 17th November– 6pm-8.30pm GMT

Module 3 - Group Support (click on the module title to access the overview and resources)

This module is about developing your skills in working with others. It looks at how to create open and supportive working/organising environments.

Monday 24th November – 6pm-8.30pm GMT

Module 4 - Community Assemblies (click on the module title to access the overview and resources)

This module is about community assemblies, which are a structured means of discussing ideas in a way that ensures all voices are heard. The module will cover the basics on how you can organise an assembly in your community and offers opportunities to practice group facilitation.

Wednesday 12 Nov 7-9pm: Additional workshop

Rolling Assembly on Tackling Disinformation
Throughout history the powerful have been able to control and distort the news for their own gain, but in the modern digital age has disinformation become a much more serious problem? In this innovative and interactive workshop we will learn about some of the main causes of the spread of disinformation and explore together what the main ways to tackle it might be. Approaches include:
  • Work on the Media: Platform regulation and strengthening journalism
  • Educate: Media literacy and critical thinking
  • Community: In tackling disinformation we are better together
This 2 hour session will begin with an active learning phase. This will be followed by discussion groups where you hear ideas from others and share your own. By the end of the workshop you will discover the ways forward that are most popular.

Sign up and spread the word! We are the change we have been waiting for :)
