Some 600 employees of the College of DuPage -- "classified" staff, including administrative, clerical, IT workers and others -- are forming their union with AFSCME Council 31. "We are constantly asked to cover for open positions, to work outside our scheduled hours and to take on duties and responsibilities that extend well beyond our job descriptions -- all without appropriately adjusted compensation or recognition for the new skills we’ve developed," COD employees say. "It’s time for staff to have our own voice.”
