This is big -- Democrats in Congress are considering creating a new Special Committee for a Green New Deal, which would be tasked with developing legislation to both fight climate change and guarantee economic security through bold policies like basic income and a job guarantee by 2020.1

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez released the resolution for the Special Committee just this week, and other legislators are already endorsing the effort -- but more support will be needed to make this happen. Several members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus are on the fence, and calls from supporters could convince them to get onboard.
