Water Belongs to All of Us - Back the People's Plan for Water!
Privatisation broke our water system.
Bills are soaring. Rivers are full of sewage. Water companies are drowning in debt - yet still funnelling billions to shareholders. Not a single new reservoir has been built since privatisation, and the system is unprepared for climate change.
Water is a human need - not a money-making machine for investors.
But while 82% of the public support bringing water back into public hands, the Government’s own “reset” review ruled it out from the start.
The People’s Commission on the Water Sector took a different approach.
They brought together academics, workers, and everyday people, and looked at all the evidence, not just what water company lobbyists wanted them to see.
And their conclusion is clear:
Public ownership works. It brings cheaper, cleaner, and fairer water - and the transition to it could cost close to nothing.
Instead of tinkering at the edges, they’re calling for:
A planned transition to public ownership - using existing laws and new legislation
Boards run by people with a stake in clean, affordable water - not just profits.
Making polluters pay for their mess, not the public or our planet.
For too long, the Government has clung to plans that put shareholders first. As a result, we’re about to get more of the same, at great cost to us and the environment.
There is a people-first, evidence-based alternative. But now, I need your voice to carry the People’s Plan for Water further - into Parliament, into every corner of the country, and into law.
If you agree water should belong to the public, not a handful of shareholders, will you add your name to our rallying cry?
