Water Belongs to All of Us - Back the People's Plan for Water!
Privatisation broke our water system.
Bills are rising. Rivers are polluted. Companies are drowning in debt, yet still paying billions to shareholders. Not a single major reservoir has been built since privatisation. The system is unprepared for climate change.
Water is a human need. It should not be a money-making machine.
82% of us want water back in public hands. But the Government has ruled it out.
The People’s Commission on the Water Sector shows public ownership works. It means cheaper bills, cleaner rivers, fairer access. The transition could cost close to nothing.
The Commission calls for:
A planned move to public ownership, using existing laws and new legislation.
Boards run by people with a stake in clean, affordable water, not just profits.
Polluters pay for the damage they cause, not the public or the environment.
For too long, Government plans have put shareholders first. That means more of the same, at huge cost to us and the environment.
There is an alternative. It is people-first and evidence-based. We need Parliament to act.
If you agree water should belong to the public, not a handful of shareholders, add your name to this call.
