(a supporter is someone, often a family member, who will attend with you and help you to engage with CAPCA)

We will do an (amazing) overnight Art Retreat in the town of Callan, near Kilkenny, that will include group movement activities, guided opportunities to think through your project idea, and building a diorama (a 3D vision of the community change your project will make, inside a box) to help with your project pitching.

This will take place on Wednesday & Thursday,12th-13th June. For those who cannot join the Art Retreat, we will provide you with instructions and guidance to make a diorama for your community project at home.

Just like the online part, there is no cost to participants (but you have to arrange to get yourself there, and tell us if you have diet or mobility restrictions, etc).

If you apply and are accepted onto the Arts Retreat, we will hold a place for your supporter, too.

We will finish the group work with an event in Dublin in the afternoon on July 3rd, at the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC) Building.

Some Participants will have an opportunity to present their pitches to potential mentors in attendance (and all of the Course Participants will be helped to upload a recording of their pitch for potential mentors to review online).

Also, we are planning a graduation event, a book launch, and a keynote by an internationally known celebrity with Down syndrome. If you apply and are accepted to attend the Pitching / Graduation Event, we will hold a place for your supporter, too.

Your Community Project can be a small thing, done in one day mostly by you, that only a few people know about. Or it can be an ambitious plan, that involves plenty of other people, taking months or years to do. You don’t have to have an idea for this project before we start. In fact, you won’t be asked to commit to something until the end of May, in the eighth week of our online group work. So, if you do have an idea now, you might change your mind by then.
