We are in the midst of the sixth mass extinction, and global heating is quickly getting out of control. Scientists say what’s required to avoid the existential threat of climate and ecological collapse is rapid and unprecedented changes, not unlike the total mobilization carried out in response to World War II. Understanding the science behind these dual crises is crucial to understanding why we need to take radical action immediately.

During the Heading for Extinction talk, members of the Extinction Rebellion Northeast Regional Support Team will share the latest climate science on where our planet is heading, discuss some of the current psychology around climate change and ecological breakdown, and explain why disruptive mass action is our best hope to avert catastrophe. The talk is intense, but we feel it is crucial to tell the truth about our situation.
