Take Action to Protect Patients from CVS Greed!
CVS has systematically used the Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM) that it owns to set reimbursement rates for competitors high enough to drive those independent pharmacies out of business! Over 1,000 independent pharmacies have closed since January 1 of THIS year!
Then, secure in the knowledge that patients have nowhere to turn, CVS slashes its costs to the bone, hurting customers and staff. One former CVS pharmacist told us:
I have friends that work at CVS that tell me like, “man, I have a hard time sleeping at night because I just sit up all night thinking about the mistakes that I might've made.” They're concerned about losing their license.
CVS prioritizes profits over patient care, leading to understaffing, mislabeling of drugs, and unsanitary conditions. The consequences are dire: pharmacists are forced to cut corners, putting patients' lives at risk.
We can try to pressure CVS to do better, but CVS just named the head of its PBM division as the new CEO. That’s right, the guy in charge of the company stiffing independent pharmacists and forcing consumers to use CVS pharmacies, is now running the whole show.
CVS isn’t going to fix this mess itself. We need to pressure Congress to pass the Pharmacists Fight Back Act and rein in PBMs.
The Pharmacists Fight Back Act would:
-
Remove conflicts of interest by preventing PBMs from owning pharmacies and setting arbitrary reimbursement rates.
-
Establish standardized payment methods for pharmacies, ensuring fair reimbursements.
-
Bar PBMs from restricting patient access to in-network pharmacies.
Fight back against Pharmacy Benefit Managers and corporate greed! Sign the petition and tell Congress to pass the Pharmacists Fight Back Act and make CVS suck less!
