Why Democratic AGs Matter

The Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA) is the only Democratic party committee solely dedicated to electing and supporting Democratic state Attorneys General.

Democratic AGs are the People’s Lawyers – defending our rights in and out of the courtroom.

Since 2016, Democratic AGs have seen major successes in taking on the Trump Administration’s repeated attempts to undermine the rule of law and rollback key protections, while working to build a more equitable, safer nation with the Biden Administration. Together, Democratic Attorneys General:

  • Defended our Democracy when Republicans attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
  • Protected the Affordable Care Act before the Supreme Court.
  • Fought for access to reproductive care, including access to an abortion, in courts across the nation against extremist Republican AGs.
  • Led efforts to reform criminal justice and policing systems
  • Spearheaded efforts to reduce gun violence
  • Blocked Trump’s discriminatory Muslim ban
  • Defended Dreamers and the DACA program before the Supreme Court
  • Prevented a discriminatory citizenship question from appearing on the 2020 Census
  • Protected consumers and our seniors from harmful practices and scams
  • Safeguarded key environmental protections like clean air and water and opposed offshore drilling

But in order to continue blocking Republican extremists and building a more just and equitable nation, we need to elect more Democratic AGs.

That’s why DAGA has successfully built an organization solely committed to electing these down-ballot Democratic champions. In the past few years, DAGA has:

  • Helped elect the most diverse coalition of Democratic AGs in history.
  • Won over two-thirds of our targeted races since 2016.
  • Launched the DAGA’s Women Initiative to help elect more Democratic women AGs.

There are more than 30 Attorney General races in 2021 and 2022. Will you join our team to help us elect more Democratic AGs who will be the People’s Lawyer?
