The Rochester Homeless Union is launching the 2020 Winter Homeless Offensive which is a 50 day local effort alongside the National Union of the Homeless to build the base of the homeless union, strengthen leadership, and collectively develop in political education to build a united social force lead by the poor and dispossessed to achieve economic justice, human rights, and full liberation by challenging the system that creates homelessness. On 12/14 at 7:00pm we will be having a Homeless Memorial to honor the lives lost due to homelessness. To truly honor the lives lost and the current lives of those experiencing homelessness, we must also take action to change the system that creates homelessness. On 12/19 at 1:00pm we will be organizing a car caravan inviting local fighting organizations to say "Right to Housing, Not Death in the Street". We will have an initial virtual press conference over zoom with testimonies and then proceed on a designated route targeting related sites in Rochester. This event will be social distanced with limited in-person contact outside of vehicles. Rochester Homeless Union will provide signage and can assist in setting up vehicles.
