Tell the Woonsocket City Council: Don't Criminalize Homelessness!
Last Monday, the Woonsocket City Council voted for first passage of 25.O.21, Councilman Jim Cournoyer's drastic anti-homeless ordinance. This law would ban camping on public property, and impose a court appearance and possibly severe fines on anyone who violates the law.
This is unacceptable.
With years of pressure from advocates, the city has made a really meaningful shift away from the previous Administration's violent housing policies. We've been very happy to see this, and we believe this ordinance is out of character for the city's otherwise more compassionate recent practices.
Add your name here to let the City Council know you want them to vote AGAINST the second passage of 25.O.21 on Monday, May 5th!
