WVIPL: Join WV's Faith-Based Response to Climate Change

We only have one Earth, and many persons of faith believe that it is the duty prescribed by their respective traditions to be stewards of Creation and preserve our planet's natural resources to the best of our human abilities. With this in mind, we invite you to take action now and join the West Virginia Power and Light (WVIPL) mailing list. WVIPL is a newly-formed state affiliate of the national Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) network whose mission is "to be faithful stewards of Creation by responding to global warming through promotion of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy."

In West Virginia, which has a long history of ties to fossil fuel industries, this mission can pose a significant challenge, but not an insurmountable one if concerned citizens mobilize in the common cause and commit to educating their communities so that the mobilization might grow. By signing this action, you will be added to our email list and receive updates about various ways that you can help in these efforts as either a congregation, a committee within your congregation, or as an individual who is motivated by faith teachings to care for our planet and its people. Our actions in the past have included such events as film screenings, testimonies at both state and national-level policy hearings, and participating in various outreach opportunities and conferences to network with similar faith-based groups from across the region and nation. Future campaigns are in the works, and we would love to keep you in the loop!

As a newly-formed affiliate, we also encourage those with a keen interest in being involved in our efforts to send us an email at westvaipl@gmail.com to introduce themselves.
