After a year of conversations with the City, and incredible support from you all, we are so excited to finally announce that EPNI will begin farming at the Roof Depot this year. Beginning May 1, EPNI will have a short term lease for the parking lot while we work on finalizing the details of a new Purchase Agreement. This lease will allow us to begin constructing the East Phillips Urban Farm, and host workshops and community events.
Over the next two seasons our Farm Team along with apprentices, interns, and workforce training partners will construct raised beds, compost bins, benches, birdhouses, ecology shelters, and a tree nursery. Students from local middle and high schools will learn about farming in after school programs and summer camps. We will be hosting community events, and reintegrating the land of the former Roof Depot as a part of our community. The land will be stewarded and cared for by the East Phillips community.
At this time, we are asking people who have the means to please donate to support our first season growing at the Roof Depot. Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase farm supplies like irrigation lines, rain barrels, soil and more.
