Black women in Alabama face one of the highest maternal mortality rates in the nation—four times higher than white women. In the rural Black Belt, where hospitals and prenatal resources are scarce, the need for trusted, community-based care is urgent.
That’s why Project Say Something created the Doula Scholarship Fund. This fund provides scholarships for Black women to become licensed Doulas, building a network of trained birth workers who can advocate for mothers, improve birth outcomes, and save lives.
By supporting this fund, you are:
-
Equipping Black women with career opportunities in maternal health.
-
Expanding access to life-saving doula care in communities that need it most.
-
Helping to close the gap in Alabama’s maternal health crisis.
