In Alabama, Black mothers are four times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white mothers. Access to quality care is especially limited in the rural Black Belt, where hospitals are scarce and prenatal resources are stretched thin.
Project Say Something is taking action through the Doula Services Fund—a community-driven effort to make childbirth safer for Black women and their babies.
With your support, we:
-
Provide scholarships for Black women to become licensed Doulas, building a trusted workforce rooted in the community.
-
Offer micro-grants to cover the cost of doula care for mothers in at-risk counties who otherwise couldn’t afford it.
-
Expand access to compassionate, life-saving care that improves birth outcomes and reduces maternal mortality.
Doulas aren’t just birth companions—they are advocates, educators, and protectors. They make sure mothers are heard, supported, and safe.
? Your gift helps train new Doulas, support mothers in need, and save lives. Together, we can rewrite the story of maternal health in Alabama.
