Background
A few years back my fellow Porktober planners and I decided this year's Porktober theme would be the Aporkalypse. Little did we know how timely the theme would be: COVID-19, social justice issues, a country divided more than ever, an election year, California and the rest of the west coast on fire like never before...

The Cause
Whether you live in California or not, you probably enjoy produce from the hard-working farmers in this state. Over a third of the country's vegetables and two-thirds of the country's fruits and nuts are grown in California, and farmers are continuing to work through COVID-19, hotter temperatures, and hazardous smoke from a longer fire season. We would like to help those who ensure there is still food on our tables, so all donations will go to the Community Alliance with Family Farmers Emergency Fund.
CAFF's mission is "to build sustainable food and farming systems through policy advocacy and on-the-ground programs that create more resilient family farms, communities, and ecosystems," and through their emergency fund, they are "offering direct support to our agricultural community impacted by disaster, in particular farmers who fall through the cracks of traditional safety nets."
