The Asheville Area Tenants Union is built on the belief that housing is a human right and that all people deserve safe, stable shelter. We are a member-led and fully independent union of tenants who make decisions collectively, with the most impacted holding the most power. We remain accountable to our members by being transparent about risks, limits, and commitments, and by seeing campaigns through responsibly. Guided by solidarity, we confront the forces that commodify housing while resolving internal conflicts through non-punitive, community-centered practices.
