Fun fact: I happen to be the CEO and Co-Founder of this organization. Surprise!

As such, I can personally attest to the fact that in the past year alone, our GM4MD team has accomplished many more incredible feats since 2021, when our organization was first founded in response to the the military coup that took over Burma on February 1st.

For the past year of 2022, our GM4MD team has demonstrated tremendous progress in terms of expanding our network for partnerships and international solidarity, while moving towards increased collaborations and ideas on ways to further raise awareness about #whatshappeninginMyanmar through our #SpringBackBurma campaign.

Through this campaign, our team aims to further shed light on the crisis in Myanmar given the poor media coverage of the country, and the all-too-familiar sound of crickets chirping when it comes to the general public's awareness about the grim situation on the ground.

So far, we have connected with and are continuing to reach out to emerging artists, musicians and dancers of diverse backgrounds from around the world. We have created multiple attention-grabbing TikToks and Reels to raise awareness about Myanmar on social media, and have plans to create many more!

In addition to these creative avenues of raising awareness, I myself have been highly involved in efforts to push for the BURMA Act of 2021 with the U.S. Advocacy Coalition for Myanmar (USACM). This important bill just passed on Thursday, December 15th! As a result, I can now also say that I was a key player who pushed successfully for the passage of this bill.
