As temperatures in Boulder dip below freezing, the reality for our unhoused comrades is a fight for survival. The state has abandoned those living on the streets, and the result is deadly. According to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless, in 2024, 1 out of 100 unhoused deaths resulted from temperature exposure. And Boulder is no exception- people are freezing to death right here in our own community, while the system continues to prioritize profit and property over human life.
This is a direct consequence of a capitalist system that criminalizes poverty and neglects those most in need. The wealthy stay warm behind their walls, and our comrades on the streets are left to freeze, starve, and suffer. But we know that solidarity is the answer. We know that we don’t wait for the state to act; we act ourselves.
That’s why we’re raising funds to build alcohol-powered heaters for those who need them the most. These simple and effective heaters will provide warmth, safety, and dignity during the freezing nights. This is not charity, it’s survival, it’s resistance, and it’s a direct challenge to a system that thinks the lives of our unhoused comrades don’t matter.
In a world where the state abandons us, we take care of each other. Every dollar you donate will go toward building and distributing these heaters, keeping people warm and alive during the coldest nights of the year. If you believe no one should freeze to death on our streets, now is the time to act. Donate, share, and help us bring warmth to those who need it most.
