Support our comrade, D! D has been relentlessly targeted and harassed by the racist police. He is currently being held on $20,000 bail (after the 10%) on measure 11 charges. Measure 11 is a weapon the state of Oregon uses to target and incarcerate black men, especially black youths. It imposes mandatory sentencing minimums. With D’s bail, the state is weaponizing cash bail against a black man, another tool of the system designed to target and oppress poor people of color and perpetuate the prison industrial complex. Being in jail as a black man during a pandemic is unsafe for many reasons, and it is no doubt harder to prepare for a successful trial while confined there. D is a generous, thoughtful and caring member of the community. Within the last year D has experienced significant trauma, including surviving an unprovoked attack on his life and recovering from life threatening injuries. Prior to going to jail, D had just started getting back into his hobby of working on cars. The prison industrial complex is designed to break families and communities apart. Please help D be reunited with his family, community and support system.
