My name is Hninn Ei, and I came to the United States to study but I carry Myanmar with me every day. Before arriving here, I worked on the ground in Myanmar and with nonprofits focused on conflict resolution, unarmed civilian protection, and peacebuilding. I witnessed both the incredible resilience of our people and the devastating impact of a military that continues to silence them.
As a fellow with the Campaign for a New Myanmar, I help build connections with U.S. lawmakers and engage them on policies that matter to the Burmese community. I’ve seen how important it is for people in power to hear directly from those who understand the crisis, and I’m grateful to play even a small role in making sure Myanmar is not forgotten.
