After years of internal advocacy, tech employee sustainability leaders resigned to exert external pressure. They are now formalizing a coalition to hold Big Tech accountable for “enabled emissions” — additional emissions from increased fossil fuel production enabled by technology.

The scale is staggering. Just two Microsoft projects with Exxon and Chevron enabled emissions equal to 334% of Microsoft’s total 2023 corporate emissions - and there are dozens of these deals. These hidden partnerships are actively undermining global decarbonization efforts, yet they remain largely absent from public scrutiny and policy discussions.

We do more than just raise awareness—we take action. Through research, advocacy, and coalition-building, we’re working to curb the emissions enabled by AI, cloud computing, and other advanced technologies while promoting a just transition to Net Zero.
