Let us reach beyond land acknowledgements, and move towards LandBack.
What is LandBack?
At 7 Directions of Service, we use the phrase “Remembering Forward” as our roadmap. The solutions we seek for our communities as we navigate climate catastrophe and transition toward healthy, regenerative economies already exist within the foundation of Indigenous cultures. For these practices to take root again, we need to put LandBack into Indigenous hands.
The return of land, and the reclamation of Native land practices, languages and cultures are intertwined. The LandBack movement does not end at the exchange of deeds, rather it is a life-long path of “Remembering Forward”, dismantling white supremacy and capitalism with every step.
Your donations support LandBack in the Southeast
Our farmlands in Alamance County, NC have been in our family for over 200 years, and today it is known as the Yésa Nédéwahe Saponi-Tutelo Indigenous Community Gardens. The Yésa Gardens serves as a space for re-establishing Indigenous agricultural practices and teachings, community organizing, educational events and ceremonies.
Donations to our "Remembering Forward" LandBack Fund go towards:
- Expanding the Yésa Gardens plot and acquiring additional land for our learning center and BIPOC-centered land sanctuary
- Building a seed bank
- Bringing on Yésa Gardens-focused team members
