When I moved to Alabama in 2019, I carried many preconceived notions about the state and its people. Those outside Alabama often believe there's no hope here due to a history of harmful policies. Some think the movement for change has died. They are wrong.

The work for justice continues through numerous grassroots organizations that have persevered and evolved over time. As community needs grow, new groups have emerged to meet these challenges.

Alabama Forward's work supports these community organizations as they build power within their communities. Together, we are working to develop community leadership, advance just policies, and hone the power that is within us all.
