I’m reaching out because of a goal I know we share - getting 45 the hell out of office this November!! Amirite??
A group of friends from the Bay formed a POD, which we lovingly call our Podsicle, to keep each other motivated, supported, and accountable to organizing for the short term work of getting Trump out of office. There’s so many reasons to feel like everything is out of control and our efforts to mobilize through phone and text banks is the little be of sanity that helps us feel like we are doing something and doing it together even makes it so much easier.
We are also RAISING FUNDS ($7,000 goal!), so we can create a mechanism for YOU, our friends and family, to support our efforts through your generosity but more importantly to FUND A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER INTERN in a SWING STATE.
In past years, when there wasn’t a pandemic and inferno raging outside, many of us in our Podsicle would travel to key areas to canvass and talk to people in person. We can’t this year because of the mess 45 has us in, so we hope you can help us fund someone to do this on our behalf. That’s for the short term… this individual that we fund will also help for the LONG TERM!! We’re working with Seed the Vote to do just that.
Seed the Vote is a project to mobilize Bay Area volunteers to defeat Trump, by supporting grassroots organizations in swing states building long term power of working class communities and communities of color. This critical effort includes Generation Rising-- a vehicle to get young folks of color involved in the election and build leadership for long-term participation in social justice movements.
Trump is our current problem, but Trumpism is pervasive one no matter who is in office next year, this we feel is clear and obvious. And we are crystal clear that on November 4th, we do not want to look back and wish a few more of us put in just a little bit more time, effort, resources to avoid another calamitous four years.
I know many of you care deeply about social justice, the environment, and immigrant justice, and thought you may be interested in ways to support, especially the long-term struggle!
