Scout Schultz, a queer activist, was murdered by police on Saturday. Tonight, the community gathered to honor Scout's memory and stand up against the police who killed them. During an angry march, cops violently arrested several protesters simply for being in the area of a confrontation.
After being tackled, beaten and hospitalized by the police, three protesters are now accused of outrageously trumped-up felony charges and they are also facing expulsion from school and loss of their jobs. Funds are badly needed to cover legal costs and ensure that they don't end up in jail for taking this stand.
UPDATE 9/29: Georgia Tech Police are waging a campaign of repression, arresting activists in their homes and classrooms and accusing them of participating in the protest on Sept 18th. So far, two more people have been arrested and we expect more to come. We are trying to keep up with bail costs and need all the contributions we can get!
Further donations will go toward ongoing support for those facing repression.
